Making plays, how is your first game already VHS and when you play do you just farm and try not to die? Teach me pls:)
Are you serious? 31-3 on slark VHS wow... Do you keep playing those heroes that can escape
Yeah i switched to dota 2 few days ago, never played it before, and it kinda sucks, it's too easy compared to dota 1. As for performance, i am very good at dota 1 so i'm kinda expected to be good at dota 2 also...
So where did u find that 4999?
It seems to put you into mid 4k games after your 1st game, regardless of who you were playing against in unranked.
My friend calibrated about a month ago at 4621 despite winning 10/10 games and being 5800 on his main. I dont know how you calibrate over 5k, but i know people did back when oracle healing was being abused.
Some guy told me that he calibrated at 6.4k and that he sold his account after that, and i believe him since i know his brother very well, i can't imagine him lying, so was it possible before?
sure.
http://www.dotabuff.com/players/247305653
we play in stack a lot, so a lot of his games are not super high mmr.
Well that's the reason he got low mmr, if you play in party (normal games) your solo mmr (since you get exp trophy points even in party) will be very close to your party mmr. If he played solo he would get different mmr i imagine, better or worse depending on his skill. As for my games i play solo only, made other account for party games.
And tbh his stats are not that impressive, 500GPM/XPM AVG is decent but not great, only 7 kills per game and 5 deaths, only 53% winrate, i guess he deserved 4.6k.
I mean don't get me wrong, 95%+ of the people can't get 4.5k at calibration, so in general his 4.6k is great, just my standards are on extremely high level since i played "pro" dota 1, and dota 1 is 10 times harder to play than dota 2.
When i see people talking about mmr, everyone is talking about how dota 2 is a hard game and it's extremely hard to be bad at dota 2. I guess to be good (and good for me is like 7-7.5k+) is only for talented people who have enough time to spend playing dota. I mean, there are noobs with 7000 games, there are good players with a 1000, talent plays big role in this game if you ask me. (When i say talent, i mean a lot of things, starting with IQ)
Dota1 is way harder than dota 2.
For a numer och mechanical reassons. (Warkeys/listchecker alwaysd help but not enought)
I was just curios where you played it :) ? Inhouse or? Are there still places to get good matchen?
OP atm u are plaing 4k hidden mmr unranked games = 3k ranked games lvl. Keep that in mind. Climbing to 6k isnt that ez as u think. Dota 2 has different mechanics., also its more team dependant. U may be a decent carry, but u wont always have an opportunity to play carry.
In unranked people almost never tryhard, which is common in ranked. Im looking forward to see your ranked games, cos i think u have no idea what u are talking about. Dota 1 =/= dota 2.
@Op - Dude are just trolling us with ur acct which looks like a smurf, I can see ur first game only is in vhs which is possible only in 2 cases, 1- this is ur smurf where u linked this acct with ur main or any other smurf which u are in vhs or 2. U played with a vhs stack from ur game 1 , but u said this is not the case as u play only solo on this acct!!
@Badman I keep playing those since i'm very bad at dota 2 and those are easy heroes to play, for example i'm playing insane Invoker in dota 1, but in dota 2 i can't play it at all atm since it's changed a lot and it feels different.
@Lex How do you know that those games are 4k? I keep getting 6-6.5k people in my games, which doesn't mean it's avg MMR but still, it's maybe a sign that those games are above low end of VHS?
@TLH,H No bro, have no reason(motive) and time to do that, just wanna figure out how's this stupid's game MMR system working, I have mates that play dota 1 that are 7k or more, so i wanna be at their level in dota 2 since i'm better than them in dota 1. As for first game VHS, i really don't know, till recently i didn't know what it even means.
@Von Mcborg, I played on RGC inhouse leagues recently, before that i played literally everywhere, this is my RGC account: http://ladder.rankedgaming.com/index.php?room=19&s=MakingPlays , i used to have 95% winrate, then some Chinese team came out of nowhere and i played vs. them all the time, so my winrate dropped since they were good and i had only about 60% winrate against them.
@Feona Nop, i feel very uncomfortable playing dota 2, i'm failing a lot and in general i feel like i am super bad atm, compared to my dota 1 performance.
Since you guys think i am "smurf", lying or some shit, here are some videos of me playing dota 1, and one does not simply play dota 1 and dota 2 in the same time:

may i know sir how long have you been playing the game? deym, you got some really nice mechanical skills. i guess you deserve to be 5k up. even if you're not satisfied, it will eventually go up with ease if you continue playing nice.
Not sure if it helps but i Just calibrated 10 games with a 90% win rate (MMR 4625)
-575 avg gpm, 5.38KDA with a 90% win rate ( I did it all on timbersaw so yea i guess gpm could be higher if your playing a farming carry)
@meow :> I'm playing for straight 7 years, 12-15 hours a day, evey day. I don't think that says much tho, i know people who play for much longer than me and are still bad. Well i would be satisfied with 7k, not a single point bellow that.
@TS-lA Well not much, i can't really compare your account to mine since there is a huge difference in current winrate, 57% is not that epic tho, but nice KDA and GPM, i must say. As far as i know, those calibration games are not that important, it's a matter what you do in normal games before that? Btw versatility affects mmr as much as other things, so i guess playing 99% Shredder is not that good for calibration.
@en Didn't get ya bro?
Btw this dotabuff is bugged, here it says i have 570 avg GMP and ingame it says 601, dotabuff give me my 31GPM back :P
They say the cap is 4999, but honestly I think that's just based off someone's intuition, not hard experimental evidence, but it's a pretty good educated guess though, so I just go with that.
I'm playing for straight 7 years, 12-15 hours a day, evey day. I don't think that says much tho
^ this!!!
You can have 6k mmr at the first game, but then the new retarded system puts you below 5k regardless of what you do. Valve took away all the fun from making smurfs and watching good players boost calibration
hard cap is 4999, realistically you won't get above 4700 no matter how good you are.
the cap used to be higher and i was able to calibrate smurfs at ~5.1, but after hero dmg exploits (zeus) it got lowered.
calibrated this account at ~4670 and currently sitting on 6.1k on sea leaderboards
@MakingPlays 7k mmr, is a level for tournament players. I admire your play style, but maybe try to make it way to 5 ~ 6 and until you made it to 7k. maybe then you will realize where your bracket really is, and at some point, as i read, you are saying "7kmmr" like its an easy or not so hard bracket? well actually the heaviness of the numbers will be felt, when you are already there ;) trust me :)
If its truly ur first account for dota 2 u will have ~5000mmr ! And as u said u were good in dota 1 ! U wont have problem to grind mmr
Bro you're really really good. Saw your replays they'e really nice and yeah you said your invoker is good, you should learn that with bots and then spam that after calibrating because people who spam invoker increase faster than normal people picking supports and carries
Dobrodosao! :D
I suggest you for start to play like several hundred of normal games to master the game/heroes etc, then when you feel comfortable enought you can calibrate your MMR.
I mean this obviously isn't OPs first account on DotA 2.
No matter how much DotA 1 he played it wouldn't somehow make his first game vhs unless he's already calibrated other accounts in Dota2 lol
calibration cap was introduced much later than the ranked MM itself, and its currently 4999 or 5000. Highest calibration result ive heard of was 4974.
however, your first calibration game is played on the level of your hidden mmr that can be much higher than 5k. it wont help tho, cz you'll drop to 4ks in your second game.
@op
-there is no official info on that cz valve never reveals anything related to the MM mechanics, and its reasonable imo
-you dont look like a 6k mmr material atm
Allright guys thanks for all the info, it is much appreciated :) I didn't mention one thing that might just explain my dota 2 performance, and that is that i watch every single bigger Dota 2 tournament, even i have been in Frankfurt for ESL One for past 2 years. Just watched, never played.
@meow Idk, i just started, i don't know that much good players, have few 6-7k friends that play dota 1 also, that's all.
@EmotionalDrift Well i don't know, i feel ok playing calibration games now.
@FwB_YssA I understand that 7k is hard and i watch 7k players playing all the time, somehow their gameplay seems logical to me and isn't like: "Omg how the fuck did he do that" or "Wtf did he just do", it's just standard 7k stuff that is normal to me and that i do every day in dota 1.
@D'ScareCrow Yeah i will, it will be so fun to see that number :)
@-Ozzy- If you never tried both, you cant even imagine how different dota 1 and dota 2 invoker are, it feels like new hero to me in d2, where i have to start learning from 0.
@PAP:) How can valve know even if i had 10 accounts that they are mine? Sometimes i go to internet caffe to play and there are 20 accounts switching on one PC per day?
@TripleSteal- Yeah i guess that it's in their interest to be a "Secret", only puppan can know that :P
Yeah i'm aware of that, i am playing pretty damn bad, but i'm satisfied because i feel like i'm learning fast, which is expected from me since i'm in dota for way too long. That's why i said that "I hope" to get 6k, meaning that i think i don't deserve it :)
EDIT: ONE BIG QUESTION
So, my best dota 1 hero is you guess it, one and only, Grand Magus (Rubick). So i have a problem with a hotkey of my stolen spell. My hotkey is always "D" whatever i steal (on legacy keys, of course), and i want my key to be at original key of the stolen spell. So i steal Blink, i want it on "B", i steal Ravage, i want it on "V". Any suggestion how to set this? Or if it's impossible atm should i cry to Volvo?
^ You can use legacy keys/dota 1 key settings in dota 2 as well. And after the springclean update u can assign different hotkeys to each hero's spells.
Yeah i've tried that, but there is a problem. If i activate "Legacy keys" i don't have that option (to assign different hotkeys to each spell), and if i deactivate Legacy, i can only assign one key to Rubick's slot for stolen spell, and that one remains the same, i want different hotkey for every different (stolen) spell?
^ Wait if u activate legacy keys different hotkeys are assigned to each stolen spell by default right? If u activate legacy it's supposed to be exactly the same as dota 1, isn't that the case?

I found dozen of forum comments about this but i feel like there is no official statement on this, so my question is what is maximum (if there is maximum) starting MMR that you can calibrate as of april 2016?
I'm hoping to get at least 6k or something so it's a pity if there is a 5k cap.
