Or you just use your brain and build what the game requires, you know, itemisation?
^telling someone to use brain when he's like 200 mmr below you

I literally dont see what mmr has to do with anything, id tell anyone to use their brain if they wrote a moronic post like op
That's the point to use the brain. But, for some of the not obvious choices, instead of relying on my own game knowledge, or game knowledge of some more skilled people that I could keep track of, trust in statistics. If there's analytically best decision it will be represented in statistics. Like you can say that Sven counters PL based on his survivability and ability to deal AoE damage and stuns. But you can also just see that he has a significantly higher win rate against the PL, right there on the "Counters" page here.

When exploring the items tab for a hero like Anti Mage, it's easy to see that Butterfly has quite a high win ratio. Does that mean that it's good to focus on building a butterfly and win a lot because of this? No, it's more that if you're already able to purchase butterfly it means that your game most likely went well. But then how to determine which build path is better? If to continue with AM, is it better to first buy a Skull Basher before the Skadi? From this tab, it's impossible to understand (at least for me). It'd be really nice to see, let's say, the win rate of a group of the first 3 items (or like the first 14k gold spent). What I mean by that is that if armlet-radiance-blink has 60% WR on WK, and armlet-deso-cuirass has 68% WR on him, then it's a better indicator for what's better to build than "armlet has 54% win ratio, and deso has 58%". Not perfect, but better.
