I remember the first time I hit 3k, then got all "I hope to continue the grind and reach 4K by this time next year.", then stayed 3k(-500 +500 and so on) for almost a whole year cause turned out From 3k to 4k, stuff that works at 2k doesn't work and you actually have to improve at the game.
And cause I climbed from 1.5k to 3k in like 5 months, I was so sure that it was matchmaking's fault that I was stuck at 3k. Took me a whole year to face the reality. LUL

Well don’t listen to most losers on these forums. I actually went from archon 5 to ancient 1 in 3 weeks and i only play pos 5-4. I did that by also copying pros and playing high impact support heroes like winter wyvern and phoenix. The most important part about the grind is to remember that you suck and you need to improve constantly. Every 250-300 mmr gained the level of gameplay evolves and you need to adapt and get better.
@Life I checked ur recent treant games. why u focus on upgrading E instead of Q+W (most of ppl upgrade Q+W and get ez kills in lane) but u focus on upgrading E on average of 2-3 times before Ult. and u upgrade your magic wand only for heal amp? (if we ignore W, you have only E spell which heals. so is it worth?) so you ply too passive with treant
and in mid-game do u ply in empty lanes and push by spamming Q while ur among trees? or most of time you walk behind ur team (sorry I'm not a good sup and 0 experience)
Hello, i am spamming the Living armor skill (E) depending on the situation on which i find myself in. To explain more thoroughly, if i am laning with an Anti-Mage or a spectre where they will prioritize hitting creeps instead of making aggressive moves I max my healing skill to sustain these Cores and to provide global sustain for my team. After the laning stage, I mostly defend T1 towers for as long as possible by spamming healing and pushing creep waves until I have my Holy locket completed. After that I go for a blink dagger for the initiation with my ultimate. In order to succeed in this game you have to adapt to the situation in which you find yourself in. If you do the same thing over and over again in all the games you won’t improve.
Don't worry man, from 3k to 4.5k the players are all the same, idk what people are talking about saying the gameplay "evolves"... no way. People are still slow to see something play out and there's almost no communication when you get higher. Everyone plays on mute cuz they're scared to type or say anything, good luck to you though; I've been 3, 4, and 5k and it's all same people. Only way to really have great combos and fun is playing in a 5 stack.
^^ If you deranked from 5k over time, just means you didn't adjust your gameplay with the changes. So yes, game play "evolves" and if you stay behind you will drop ranks.
The skill level of 4k players, around 4 years(can't lh, can't control lane, etc ) back is now the skill level of 2k players.
The reason I "deranked" is because I stopped taking it seriously and used heroes I like to play not the meta trash. Talk alotta trash, feed and 100+ abandons got me where I am at, not my actual skill. A lot of fun in low priority, not sure why but those games alot of times are more fun than regular. Sometimes as soon as I get out of LP I'll abandon 3 in a row to go back in. People take this game too seriously, there's really nothing up in 5ks or higher, it's just a goal people feel like they "need to display". Nothing happened, same ol players blaming others and not paying attention to the game.

I went from 1.5k to 2.7k with techies support in just 150 games, but then for next 300 something games, same strategy didn't work and I was hard stuck at 2.7 to 3k, till I changed my playstyle and hero.
To enjoy any game at high skill level, you yourself have to be at that skill level. Game ain't enjoyable for anyone when a 2k player is put in a 5k game.

@Stance, Well unlike some supports who care about their KDA and play support like a core, I prefer to be the meatshield for my out of position cores (common occurrence in low mmr games). As I said before, my job is to ensure my core survives if that means I have to keep walking between him and the enemy every time the guy is out of position, then so be it. I've went upto 20 deaths and still got commended for good support even in losing games. So, I really don't give a fuck about what salty low mmr players says on forums about my skills.

I took almost a year off from playing dota in April 2020, I started playing again around Feb/March of this year. When I recalibrated my MMR i was at 2200 Crusader 5. I dropped to 2100 at one point, and after close to 4 months of learning the meta and copying pros I have gained 900 MMR in 4 months. I hope to continue the grind and reach 4K by this time next year.
