having above 50% win rate means you are climbing up.
having below 50% means you are climbing down.
its that simple.
some things:
1. calibration matches can boost you alot of ranks up.
you can get lucky in calibration - get a rank which is above your skill level (lets say ancient) then lose a bunch of matched and end in legend. so you can see a person who is legend but have a sub 50% wr.
2. you gain more mmr from wins then what you lose from loses. i think its +25 avg for win and -24 avg for lose.
so you can rise even with sub 50% wr, but it will be slow.
3. also, you may lose a lot in unranked, but win in ranked - so you have high bracket, low wr account this way too
dy/dx at x gives rate of increase or decrease of function. It has no depending relation with f(x).

Some people (me) have over 50% winrate but have 1k (me) 2k rank and some people have bellow 50% but have over 3k MMR. How does that work??
