What ywn said. From my perspective as a pos 4 player that likes to gank mid a lot, a good mid player will be aware of incoming ganks. A very good player will turn around a gank attempt into kills.
Bad midlaners usually die to rotation, tp back to midlane, die again and its pretty much gg.
I am no mid expert, but what is one of the most important things in Dota and especially on the mid lane... Is to hit hard. If you have a right click damage advantage and a good attack animation (missile speed) it is way more easier to get CS and deny the enemy from getting them. I have never been all that special cs monster, but if you have a bad animation/missile speed and the enemy has higher damage to boot, you pretty much lost the lane already...
Hitting hard is really important... For the farm and XP. Bracers, Wraith Bands, Ring of Basilius etc. are all more important items on the mid lane than on any other lane.
Another goal: watch the map and help secure another lane if you manage to win your lane. If you get haste/invis rune and you see on that side the lane is pushed and there is a kill potential, go for it, make the play. If you help your offlane secure double kill it will make their life so much easier, as enemies will have to play more carefully.
I saw stream actually during the weekend, that when you do this kind of rotation you should stay nearby (farm neutral camp) and when the enemy tp back kill again and the lane is actually won. So even if you let enemy mid freefarm and get some damage to tower, you actually won another lane and didnt lose so much.
i'll give some advice if you using sf :
starting game :
circlet, sliper of agily , 2x iron branch , faerie fire , ( asking for 1 tango ) > rune pick > buy 3 mango
5 min game :
WB , and bottle
lane phase :
.CS proper to get 12 LH
..haras untill his hp down to 70% or less
...pick a good position and then you can spam raze till his family come over to midlane > space created
Around 5 minute mark always buy an Observer ward for yourself and ward mid lane. Most pos4/5 players start ganking mid at night time. It's esp important if you are a midlaner that likes to stay in mid lane rather than joining fights in early game e.g. Medus or Exort-Quas invoker.
harass midlaner while tanking creepwave and then feed under tower, buyback then feed.
after that go jungle and kill the enemy later for a nice killstreak bonus,

You have 65% win rate as an ancient 5 player! Are you trolling us ? You have 60-70%+ win rate one some cores despite having less than 30 games with those heroes! Is this your smurf account?
Last hits first , kills 2nd. Lane momentum should be on your side most of the time. Avoid bad matchups and rather give it to someone else than losing hard (example SF/templar)

I get like 5 cs in 3 mins against feachairu
