How did resolution end up empire sub? in General Discussion

I get how, but why did valve agree to that sub and how do roster locks work anyway? It just seems weird to me they could pick a sub who was on another team that lost in the qualifiers.

They had a rule in place before that happened where they could choose anyone. No subs rules and shit

        "ARE THERE SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS?
Subs are no longer registered in the roster lock period. Teams that qualify for The International will be able to issue a Substitute Player invite to any one player not participating in The International once the qualifiers for The International are done. If they so choose, any main player from a team with a sub can then yield their spot to the team's sub by clicking on the 'Switch to Sub' button in the 'My team' tab."

oh thanks, didn't know that was explicitly in the rules. Resolution is a big reason they're doing so well imo so I was wondering.

Weirder is why USA didnt let chappie to get in. Any information?

Not that many details, all I can find is that his visa was approved but he didn't get his passport returned to him in time. Seems like just something lost in the shuffle. He was a TI qualifier which only left like 30 days to get a visa. Might just not be enough time in Russia. Idk how it works. In the US work visas and passports usually take 3 months or so unless you rush it by driving to the consulate/embassy office, in which case they can usually do it in a week, you drop the paper work off in person, pay extra for a rush, drive back a week later.
