I doubt about TA but she can deal good amounts of dmg and can even zone out ember, alch, qop and viper mid if played correctly.
I always first pick my mid visage coz they enemy thinks youre a support and trash hero so they dont bother to counter you then they get rekt. Sup or core this hero is good first pick material
Actually. TA isn't a first pick material imo. Once you get countered by a good player you're done. But in my bracket. TA gets countered very seldom, if ever countered, enemy player don't know how to play the hero counter properly. At least, that's what I had observed.
TA beat viper mid ? hah, in your dream !! any decent viper player will destroy good TA player if both mid !( except if that viper is idiot and not mid, no way viper can beat TA if TA got her blink+deso).

so doesnt matter if you first pick, you're countered anyway
You snowball before minute 20 and hope for a team that is willing and able to push or you loose. high risk high reward, living on the edge muh friend

What are the heroes that are 1st pick material in each role?
For me:
Safelane: Jugg, Spec, Troll, Weaver, Ursa
Mid: Invoker, Lina, TA,
Offlane: Axe, LC, Cent, Slardar, (Possibly any str offlaner cause its kind of stupid if you try to counter a str offlaner since most of them would go to the jungle if they feed) and Nyx
Roamer: Earth Spirit, NS, Pudge, Tusk, Rubick, Bara
Hard support: CM, Visage, Venge, Warlock, Lich, KOTL, Lion, Ogre
