you could do it in source 1 but source 2 made it impossible since it removed override.vpk and some other stuff that you could modify the game to an unfair advantage like the pumpkin tree map or the further zoom-out of the map or even banana tiny.
Following on from my last comment - make sure you are on a 16:9 resolution for maximum vision.

So once again, can anyone tell me or point me to a place where I can see if it would be considered cheating?
i used ensage cheat once for this exact reason
my old 4;3 low res monitor was impossible to see anything from
it was like playing with a microscope
so i downloaded the zoom/view distance tool
and then my other acc got vac-banned
Well I just built my PC after saving for months, and now I am just finding it hard to get used to the resolution (affecting the cam. distance).
I just sent a message to valve asking if manually changing the cam distance is considered cheating. Will post back when I get a response.
I assume you are changing a game file though - if so, it is incredibly easy for valve to notice if they care - which they will when reddit starts complaining about it...!
