Just lost a game because our qop mid abandoned on her 1st death and later on viper too. They couldn't keep up with the heat of the game. Our team would have gotten more gold if we sold their stuff and possibly made the difference.

In the previous patch, when someone disconnected you could sell their stuff and use all their gold on the people playing and have a better chance to win. All the current system does is enable a way to grief teammates worse than abandoning does. There is no benefit to having it this way.
