I used my account on reddit to experiment. The posts about my true, unfiltered opinions toward a given pro team always get downvoted to oblivion, while the posts that are essentially one-liners with puns get tens, maybe hundreds of upvotes.

The downvote system itself makes it imposible to have a good conversation about dota in reddit.

It doesnt matter how much they complain about it, that subreddit is destined to be a huge twitch chat with memes and things alike.

Personally i dont care about it, if i want to see funny content about dota i use reddit, if i want a real discussion about mechanics ( and some ramdon insults ) i use the forum.

By the way havoc there is no way this forum circlejerk can EVER come close to reddit circlejerk.

on reddit, literally anyone can claim they are good at a hero and give a shit wall of text when they played 20 normal skill games on that hero and get upvotes beacuse it sounds semi reasonable to the majority of the community (2-3k redditors)

pretty much anything that is out of the ordinary or somehow percieved negative (even at the slightest degree) disapears instantly

you can't expect legitimate criticism that is based on people's own experience, instead it's just a bunch of guys reflecting on top rated comments from the past

what i said above only applies to reddit topics that get popular, it should be fine for topics with little replies but then again, you don't know who is posting so you gotta be wary of bullshit
