Damn a scammer, better call Saul.
Add me on my account and I can give you a Storm Spirit hat but please try to be more careful in the future as Valve actually make it very hard for you to lose items in this way unless you do something really retardo.
Don't gift items in trade for other gift items from people you don't know. If you're going to do that you need to find someone on a trading site and work with a middle man.
@Havoc Badger
what do you want for it? i can't to add someone, pls add me on steam
@Saul Goodman
besides what havoc offered (also u r underestimating his kindness, I guess), I would suggest you to contact Steam Support. Normally they do not return items that you lost in trust trades involving gifts, but it is still worth a try.
NO DO NOT CONTACT STEAM.
Steam have a "one slip up" policy and given how easy it is to take items off you should (a few years down the line) you get scammed again but for more items you will need your one get out of jail free card for then.
You only get one chance why waste it on a Storm Immortal.
What Havoc said is true, they never gonna help u again. I just assume you wont get scammed like that any more.
To fix this problem gifting should only work with some one who has been in your friends list for say 4 months +
No, to fix this problem you should not be a fucking retard and throw away more than you can afford to lose.
Be happy you have a second plan, that is Havocs generosity.
that one get out of jail free card that steam offers is if your account's security is compromised and someone else accesses your account, not if got scammed.

i.e. if someone tricks you into giving away an item in an unfair trade (in this case you got nothing), steam support won't return your items. if your account is accessed by someone else who stole your password (keylogger or whatever) and that person trades all your inventory away to his account, then steam will return all the stolen items ONCE.
@Androgynous
When i was into trading, i contacted steam support quite often cz I was administarting a group related to this and its members faced similar problems, although with a bit greater amount of items usually. Unoficially, they have same one-extra-life-for-your-inventory rule for all kinds of scams, not just account stealing. However, they are generally not willing to help people who trade items that are not supposed to trade (gift swaps), which is the case here; as well as the trades involving money transactions. However, I would still suggest OP to give it a try.
I hope that such users as that scammer will receive their due and no one will be scammed, that's all i want
I remember Havoc losing shit loads of items awhile back.
Then steam decided to duplicate them all once and told him that it would be the last time. Made me think of how great a scam it could be if you did it intentionally. Quickly get 'hacked' and sell off all the big items for cash then report to valve and have them all duped.
that was (somewhat) recently changed I believe. they used to return items when scammed but not anymore. I can't say for certain but I think they gave a reason saying that limited items would be devalued or something.
people purposely deleting their bills and asking for support for vintage bills in tf2 the good old days.
All the buds lel.
Though nowadays I believe the highest amount of scams don't come from the dota2 market but the cs:go where there are a considerable amount of items worth several hundred to 1k (i know dota has alpine and stuff but way lesser in quantity)
@Bedazzle they didn't duplicate they can roll back the trade if they want to I got all the original items. Keep in mind I have a lot of limited edition items that they can't just duplicate.
Here's the post http://www.dotabuff.com/topics/2014-04-29-why-is-steam-so-shit-at-protecting-accounts
Mine was a direct break in vs stupidity in trusting someone.
Maybe it's too rapid method but I want him to be punished. http://dota2lounge.com/trade?t=151034933
