switching division and subdivision in General Discussion
ObliviousMarvel

I have recently increased my Solo MMR from 2000 to 2500 without any change to my division and subdivision (Bronze 10)

I understand this is said to be a slow update , yet does something should not have changed from that noticeable MMR increase !?

    Hex Sigma

^afaik divisions dont exist in dota. What you see on dotabuff(if you have plus) are esitmated divisions. The only result is known by valve. However to make you feel better most of mmr is shit till like 5k.

      Culone

normal skill saying "all mmr is shit till 5k"
        legit

        Hex Sigma

^im not the one who said it genious. A lot of players told me that all is shit till 5k. They were not refering however to the skill ceiling, but to the attitude, which is a big problem in dota.

          ObliviousMarvel

Regardless of absolute MMR level, the division in Dotabuff should still reflect an increase as big as 25 % ????
Though my division has not changed at all. Not even subdivision... I don't really understand Dotabuff algorithm..

bronze 10 is the highest bronze... why are you complaining?

              ObliviousMarvel

Well I am not complaining. Yet I dont understand why I was Bronze 10 at 2000 MMR , and still Bronze 10 at 2500 MMR

                BenaoLifedancer

i srsly don't have the time to go baby steps with you and explain..

                  ObliviousMarvel

I doubt your condescending attitude reaveal anything about your knowledge of the underlying algorithm

                    BenaoLifedancer

it actually does but you're too stupid to put them together

                      Relentless

                        https://www.dotabuff.com/pages/rankings

"The Ranking Division system is designed to react to change in player skill more slowly than your MMR. If you improve very quickly the Ranking Division system will take time to catch up."

"Instead of measuring player skill at the current point in time (like MMR), Ranking Divisions estimate and weigh the difficulty you've faced while earning the other statistics used in the ranking."

"The Ranking Division system moves much more slowly than your player MMR. It compares difficulty and other statistics over time to create a sense of historical significance in the rankings."

It may be that the system has not yet decided if you can maintain your 2.5k level and will move you up in time. Also, congratulations on getting your warlock game figured out. It looks like you are becoming very consistent with it.

Many thanks relentless. I have figured out that the only way to improve MMR at low levels is by supporting. (as everyone is so happy to play carryat those levels)
I will play carry again around 3K

Lets wait and see then, regarding division..
