I think you are not quite right - what you get if you only search for a couple of minutes is a tighter spread of MMR so you're more likely to have a balanced game.
It's not working on your bracket, when the search is longer means there are not players with your settings or mmr (example: if you have chinesse language prefference in eu it will take a while to see there aren't chinessse players on eu and then you will be matched with people who desn't talk chinesse).
Same happens with 5-7k mmr players they cant be matched with the same mmr players so the system looks for a lower mmr players, BUT you have 3.7-3.8 and there are a lot of players with the same mmr than you, so for you the peope who is matched with you will have the same mmr +-100.
Maybe if you search capitan mode there are no players with your same mmr then you will get a match with people who have a bigger mmr deviation like +-300mmr
or you're a 4.5k stack queuing for 1 second getting a match immediately and it's a 5.2k stack that's been queuing for 15 minutes
you don't want high mmr. Every 1/2 game you see some kid who bought 5-6k mmr account and HE FEEDS real 6k player -_-
Yeah; i call lanes because ANY russians always pick slark (no matter if 3k or 6k mmr) and often suck if i don't warn that i will do my job...
I w8 for 4/5 people to be green on my team, then i tell my role. Worst case scenario i go dual carry lane (you'd be surprised how many games we won with 4core lineup) or pick other role

So i though i was trippin at first but it seems that if you find solo ranked game as fast as possible you will get high MMR players in ur team and more likely to have a good game and win. From now if i cant find game in under 2min ill just play pub or wait a bit then search again =]
