Personally I can't tell the difference between ranked and unranked and it really confuses me when people say they are too scared to play ranked or ranked is 'too tryhard'. Whatever floats your boat, but I find ranked to be more enjoyable because the games are generally more competitive.
I would suggest playing ranked if you want more competitive and fun games, but if it's too stressful, then why stress over a game?
I think it more the people in the unranked rather than the game itself that stresses me out. People being more competitive usually makes them more critical of little mistakes which leads to constant flame all game. In unranked nobody really cares so you can always have a good bit of banter with everyone regardless of how well you are doing.
Your normal matchmaking hidden rating is lower than your ranked one. Atleast that's what I'm guessing. Winning is harder in ranked (Which it should be) and you can win easily in normal, have fun while it lasts because you'll eventually be to your ranked mmr.
That or people at that skill level don't give a sh*t about unranked matchmaking
^IDK about this, my hidden mm is at least a few hundred points higher then my ranked and I still find unranked easier to win in.

Don't worry about it so much. You're just worried of confirming how bad you think you are and thats okay.
Best part about non ranked is you don't have a mid and safelane carry locked into every game, usually players that are shit in those roles. Probably the thing that has pissed me off since they brought out the draft in AP ranked because if you actually try and work with your team you're forced to support an average carry and mid every game.

I'm going to be honest. I am a trench tier player. I am currently at 3.2k MMR and it has always been at pretty much around this number since I started the game. Played ranked matchmaking often does nothing more than stress me out so I decided that I would start playing unranked for a little while. It turns out that unranked is actually really fun and I have managed to get a win rate of 91% in unranked this month. I lose every game I play in ranked but games seem to be more laid back in unranked. I can not remember the last time that I have enjoyed playing DotA this much but I do wish to return to ranked. What do you recommend I do?
