No, that's not how it works.
You win, you go up in MMR but you don't really improve, so once you're facing teammates that are better, you fail to keep the pace and lose.
When I was trying really hard to improve my gameplay I climbed from 2.6k all the way up to 3.2k while being muted with very few losses. I only dropped because I really enjoy throwing games, so yeah, I won't watch watch that game because I know I'm right.

This is how MMR works: you win a couple of games because of your own succes.
