i used to not give a shit about ranked when it first came out and i calibrated at 3,3k and i was more of a casual. then all i wanted was 4k, after that i wanted 5k and now i want 5,5k/6k. buuut this is gonna be way harder to achieve i guess
Personally i dont care about the MMR it self. My goal is it to play with players I watch at twitch, YouTube, I know some really nice dudes I watched for years but I never could play with them :)
i calibrated 3.9 at the beginning, then i was 4.1, and now i'm 3.7, my goal is 4.5k then 5k, is hard boyz
I lost 500 MMR over the last 3 weeks. I have no certain goals but the drop from 4.6 to 4.1 rly hurts. Dunno what I changed, but it seems to be affecting my game.

I didn't care much for MMR because according to statistics, you'll need around 2000 samples for an accurate data.
I didn't plan on playing another 2000 matches after MMR came out, but I did anyways lol.
It would have been cool to be the oldest dota player to reach America's top 200 leaderboard, but after 60 ranked matches, I need to take a long break at 5300.
I try to ignore mmr honestly. Instead I try to focus on winning games, not some magically number to hit. You should want to win games because winning is fun, not to hit some mythical number you can brag about on forums that no one cares about.

I sat a goal reaching 5k, post that I got lazy, work started so I generally stopped playing for a while, but then I came back and now with the goal to reach 6k+.
Since I took up dota again I've bounced from 5k flat to 5,2k+.
The road is real, but it'll definetly take quite a while.
Spam pick your favorite hero, whoever you can maintain a 60% winrate with. You WILL get to 4k like that. From there, branch out and learn other heroes close to your favorite role. That will teach you that role. From there, read guides to take your gameplay to the next level. After that you have to watch your own replays and learn your own habitual mistakes, and break them.
Don't care about the MMR so much as trying to master a hero and continually improving. Curious as to where the rank is going to top out and I need to start varying my picks.
I made a rule to only play omni in ranked . It got me 800 mmr. Tried to gain 100 per week but after a very bad weekend which included 4 leavers in 2 days I gave up the chase. Now I'm in the heroes of the storm beta so I'll probably move to that for now

I'm 33, I doubt anyone in the leaderboard is in their 30s.
Repetitive straining injury is real, I doubt I will be playing for another year.

I don't know about Guitar, but Keyboarding and hardcore button smashing is probably very different.

SOLO I calibrated 3.6 I reached 4.3 when I was playing 3-5 games daily. My Summer goal was to reach 5 k mmr And I reached it , Solo rmm it's so stressful for me , whenever I lose I feel sad , I don't even want to lose in solo mmr, I stopped for a while at 5021 mmr, and i am trying to get my party 5k without tryharding much ,which is way more fun and relaxing
Then I started playing with my friend's 2k mmr (practicing heroes) i got him 3.2 ( I am having more fun with his account because I am not anxious in every game)

My goal when i was 4890 was to reach 4950 then i took a break
from 4950 i set a goal to 5k then take a break
now i just went 5100 and my goal is 5200 and bla bla bla
i drop from 4.5k to 4.1k now, having 43% winrate in past 30 days, my goal is to reach negative mmr.
I love this bracket. 4.5k - 4.9k
Games are so much easier where MOST of the players are pretty decent and cooperative.

It's much better than 3.9 - 4.1k and 4.2 - 4.5k. These brackets are toxic.
My goal is always 100 mmr higher than I'm currently. Long term goal is 4k. Currently 3550. I think I deserve 4k, so I should get it pretty soon (60% win-rate in ranked overall, so sooner or later I will get there :) )
Currently doing a pretty decent job at grinding my way out of 4k bracket.
Within 2 months I will be 5k >:D

I callibrated at 3k about 7 months ago, didn't really play ranked then. After few months I decided im going to reach 5K mmr, currently sitting at 4.5K (small break from ranked) and hopefully one day i'll get there.
It took me 3 months to get from 3K to 4.5K
Finally reached 5k which I was aiming for the past 2 weeks. No intention/expectation of hitting 5.5, so I'll probably just play ranked. If I dip below 5k it's fine, I know I was able to reach it at one point haha.
