can you be bad for 4000 games? in General Discussion

I mean, I'm bad, my MMR is 2,9k, but look at these guys: http://de.dotabuff.com/matches/946569118

2k and 4k games and still only in my mmr? How is this possible? How is this game fun if you play 4000 games of bad dota?

My friend has 3,5 k HOURS of dota and his mmr is... 1,8k, no joke

Other one has around 2,5k games and has... 1,1k mmr (not even sure how the fuck)

yes, amount of games has no relation to skill. Back at dotalicious we had 2 guys that played tons, even more tahn waga, me and all the other sl3. i dont remember the nicknames but we encountered them weekly xD. One of them had jack or smth in his nick and the other guy played mostly bloodcyka woods almost every game haha had like 30-45% win total and was a pain in the ass to carry though they always played to win (but god they were awful)

If you do not want to improve, you will be a baddy for ever. I encountered yesterday 2 morons, that flamed me for getting radiance on spectre (i got it min 17).

I played the game before against them and thx to lack of support I did not have the chance to come online. They just assumed that I am bad and kept going. They flamed for refresher etc.

In another game I got flamed for not skilling spiderlings against lc on lane. Just watch your own game. Play to improve, play to win, not to educate your teammates.

Im at 4.4 k and bad players will always be bad.

That's what I actually stopped, getting mad at dota. A good friend of mine told me that he's new goal was not go get better but not to get mad at dota and hence he's improved a lot. It's quite a good strategy actually :D.

I still wonder how you can spent so much time on a game and still me so bad :/

I have friends with 2k+ games of Dota 2 and over 2k Dota 1 games and still 2.5k - 3k mmr. I'm not much better either, I have a bit higher mmr (3.7k) only because I play ranked with only 2 heroes.

Basically that's your mmr if you play 1-2 games per day, with random heroes. You keep having 0 map awareness and ignore chat because last hitting takes too much focus, you don't learn to farm better either because each hero is different and most times you die in first 10 minutes (either ganked or overextend).

                  so?
not everyone is playing to improve, is it that hard to understand ?

few games per day with friends, for fun, why not ? (my case)

Play unranked then. Ranked was made for players, who play to win.

You can still be competitive and play to win without a huge drive to improve your dota skills.....

I don't understand what's so bad about 2.9k-3k mmr? It's still above avarage.

Maybe they play random every match, maybe they just don't try-hard enough, even if they do, 2.9k-3k is okay mmr..

It's at least avarage, nothing wrong with that.

Some people have talent for Dota, some doesnt.

And let me tell you, 2.9-3k players knows how to farm, knows how to build items, and so on at some decent level, avarage level.

Ofc, they make tons of mistakes, hell, they're not 5k players, but still..

There is always someone better then you.

Someone summed it up ... Unless you play 3 hours/days or so , if you want to get a high MMR you need to focus on 3 or 4 heroes. You may be successfull and still good with 30 more (or so) but in the end, you're game impact will not be the same. You have to think you'll be the one who will bring your team to victory, to do that you need to play your class "without thinking" because you'll have to use your extra brain time on map awarness and switching between gank/defense and creep with no downtime.

                          go kill urself

yikes 1.5k games 5k but i played dota 1 a reasonable amount. but even still, mmr is a pretty accurate reflection of your skill, which means you haven't put a whole lot of thought into improving between games

It's not just games played either, it's the frequency, are you retaining what you learned. I never play the same hero more than 3-4 times in a row, play sporadically (3-4 games for 3-4 days, then none for a couple, then maybe 1 game, then none etc). It's very hard to get noticeably better. But it doesn't really matter, mmr does a good job of matching me up vs similar people so matches are competitive. That's kind of the point.
