From my experience the "better" games starts at 4500+
I recently dropped to 4400 and it was a hell, however now I'm back on track.
It is, but a large number of 4.3 K players are actually not good. Some of them deserve the skill level, others just got there from being carried or playing on new accounts with complete noobs :). Goal to win : Pick Invoker > Make Midas > Make Books > Push towers when they ganking your team ! #NewMeta
Above me is probably the most annoying thing with Invoker players. A lot of them don't even know the hero and spend the entire game farming, split pushing, and sun striking. This is grossly underusing the hero and you would be better off playing lycan or necro who can achieve this same effect but don't take a up a mid lane never ganking and being wack all game.
4.3k did hold decent games for me, I think from about 4.2-4.4 for me was a little bit stagnant as people did frustrate me with some of their builds and plays but it wasn't all bad. I think 4.1-4.4 you can expect about a 54% win rate or higher (depending) and people do seem a little bit smarter about what they do and where they go.
it depends on which region you are mostly, more specifically which server. In the Australia servers, there are hardly any 5k players. Majority of the top players are usually around 4.5k+ (side note, there are only 3 players with 5k+ in New Zealand itself). This means that it is actually really difficult for someone playing in the Australian server to actually grind mmr above 5K due to the fact that once you reach the really top-top mmr in your server, your mmr gain is not that high unless the match is really stacked against your favor. This also means that 4.3-4.5kmmr in australian servers which I also suspect would be extremely low in proportion compare to other lower ranking players. I would say that players above 4.5k in australian servers are decent players comparable to other 5k players in other servers. Try to understand that I'm not saying that the 4.5k mmr players in the australia server rivals 5k players in other servers. We do not actually know the mmr comparison between servers but obviously logically the more professional players/teams in your servers usually mean a higher average skill level right? :P What I'm saying is that you are more likely to get decent players at 4.3k in Australia than you would in another server say US west.
Players are decent most of the time but their attitude can be shit 50% of the time. Team coordination could be better and lanes, oh god the lanes...
4.3k are trash games usually, need at least 4600-4700 mmr for 20%-30% `okeish` games at mm. And 5k for 40%-50% okeish games
200 below your skill is when you play with "stupid" teammates that you can't trust
for me thats 3.8k for some its 5k others 2k...
trash cans calling each other trash cans even though majority of us are in the trash bracket

when i duo queue = 5-5.2k (no ursa/wisp or any of that bullshit)
when i solo queue = 4.5-4.9k
i don't know if it's just cuz i go on a tilt in solo q pubs but i think solo q requires a different set of skills than playing in a party
games are pretty intolerable whether at 4.2k or 4.9k, players at 4.9k are generally better obviously but you're still going to get trashes. (trilane losing to solo offlaner, supports never rotating, etc.)
So are you implying that 5.5k is the real deal in ranked? And can be called amateur players
bullshit, 4.3-4.4k is just horrible
http://dotabuff.com/matches/655893051 lc played own game against neutrals, lion offlane and pudge total troll. But hey, lion is his compendium hero
http://dotabuff.com/matches/654858628 just for example what are people picking in that mmr range..
and no bogi, I dont think that at 4.6 is anything better.
All in all, if you think that 4.3k is place where you can settle down and play good game with good player, jsut keep trying harder to get higher, cause you wont see that in this mmr range.

Is 4.3k mmr is already a decent game with decent players itself?
