When does it become hard when you are smurfing? in General Discussion

Long time ago I reached my 4k and due to not being able to proceed having streaks I quitted dota for a while. Now I play only on accs with 3k and I can't understand the boundaries when it becomes hard to play. For example, I reached ~3.6k but the games are pretty easy and I keep winning. Also, I remember climbing from 1ks and while playing I always was getting easy kills on mid due to enemy midlaner always being over-confident and then after some certain mmr let's say 2250 they become much more careful. I always was bothered about such transitions in skill.

I thought I'll start getting around 60% wr near 3.6k but it's around 80-90%. Does it become noticeable only when the mmr is very close to main mmr?

3k is not what it used to be.

do u mean 3ks become worse every season?

It does make sense, eventually player become better the longer they play and rank up, then the acc buyer and some unlucky guy with 120 ping and 20 fps will derank every season and fill the leftover 3k rank

John's comment meant exactly the opposite, the entire playerbase improves incrementally over time.

Having played DotA on-and-off since the WC3 days, I can say with complete confidence that your "average dota player" (approximately Archon 3-4, in the exact 50% percentile of ranked players,) has become massively more skilled at the game.

Back in the day, people hardly ganked lanes or tp'd to towers to assist allies in other lanes. Power Tread switching was considered a highly advanced and esoteric mechanic only practiced by the most tryhard players. The average understanding of items, use of consumables and farm-speed have gone up dramatically.

So every time you take a long break from the game, (4+ months I'd say,) the MMR you used to be at will have become slightly more difficult to compete in, even if you were somehow magically immune to the effects of being rusty from not playing, you'd be theoretically slightly worse than your standard player at your MMR, (assuming you were also at the exact MMR you deserve.)

Did these fools really think they’re good at dota just because they rekt kids in lower bracket?

^think so. imagine telling other people that youre smurfing and bragging that you win most of the games u played huehue

lmao I have things to brag about in my real life who cares about this game. Only people who can brag in dota 2 are mostly top 100

i guess it gets hard when it gets hard for you? it's different for everyone, since you were 4k before, maybe it'll get hard at 3.9k?

for me, i can get to max calibration on a new account that's never been divine before at ancient 7, then win one game and I'm divine.
