PSA - Potential scam site www.dotabuff.money in General Discussion
DontTakeMyShampoo!

Hi guys, anyone received any invite from people claiming to represent this site, www.dotabuff.money ? Their modus operandi seems to be like this:

    1) Invite as friend via steam
    2) Claim to pay u $100 worth of skins if you advertise for them, i.e changing your nickname to include their site, description etc etc.

I have checked their site, the log in process via steam seemed a little dodgy, smells like a phishing scam, however this is no longer the crude fake websites where steamcommunity is spelled all wrong etc etc. It seems like they open a pop up within their site, but when i click the tabs inside such as store, community, about, support or login, it says "having trouble connecting to steam servers". This was a red flag to me so I pulled out asap.

Any IT experts who can track down these website, and maybe get some evidences on my hunches? This website supposedly is a tradebot site, but it insists on you signing in on steam via their website.

Just a PSA, so be careful guys! Dotabuff admins you should take note too, as it involves your name.

Admins of this site have no control of who purchases other domains with the "dotabuff" name in them and they have no way of even being alerted automatically. It is not like they created a subdomain on dotabuff.com itself. It is a completely different domain.
