I based a bunch of my hero related picks on the TI7 qualifiers; https://www.dotabuff.com/esports/leagues/5401/picks
ill watch some youtube videos and do exactly oppposite. in kiev i followed someone i dont remember as i watched many videos and selected same option. it was a bad idea.
i dont think nahaz was that accurate either but he is pretty reliable ive heard.
I looked at the last tournament (MDL 2017) and based my predictions on that.
Maybe someone is having some kind of statistics from previous majors and TIs and would like to share it here?
EG will win because my fav player(cr1t) is there
most banned ? io or maybe mid hero or ganking hero
most picked ? initiator or the next god tier carry(idk who)
My Opinion:
Most picked hero: SK
Most banned hero: Night Stalker
Hero with lowest avrg. deaths: Anti-Mage
Hero with most last hits: Naga / Sven
These are the ones which i think are pretty safe or atleast in the Top 3 which u can choose.
@Pegaboard ッ yeah Ive marked the same with most picked and most banned. I was thinkin of earth spirit also.
Most picked: clockwerk
Most banned: dark seer
Winner, I think VP deserves this. They are very consistent and interesting to watch.
With full of respekt but you gotta be stpuid if you think brewmaster will be most picked hero.
his other predictions are just as possible as brew for most picked hero, and its quite a clear sarcasm
for some reason int qualifeirs and actual event nearly always had very different metas
Pretty much.
And not to mention that TI's usually go for an entirely new meta. I expect a lot of zeus and MK tbh.
I have no idea hero picks. That shit is too hard to tell. IO is usually very high but it varies a lot.
For teams I think a Chinese team is going to win this year, though I have no idea which one, probably ig or lgd who knows? Eg, Og and Vp will be top 3-4, Liquid is good on paper but they seem to underperform at big valve events, well I guess they got 2nd at a couple majors in 2016, but different roster then.
A lot of the placements will depend on group stage. Group stage can be totally random, though there is a lot more at stake this tournament so every team should take it super seriously, since bottom 2 are eliminated completely and there's an upper bracket again. But if like a team like OG or EG don't perform as well as they should they could end up facing each other in the 2nd or 3rd round.
That happened at both boston and kiev. In boston EG faced wings round 1 and VP round 2, took em both out, so that's two like top 5-6 teams gone early. Then at kiev thunderbirds (formerly dc) faced eg first round, and if secret hadn't blown it vs sg esports they would've probably dropped to eg second round.
So you always get one or two teams that underperform in the group stage and then you get two teams who could potentially be top 3 facing off early and one has to go out. I'm pulling for OG and EG, I love fly and notail, and every us fanboi loves EG, though I like them less without Fear, but he's still coach!
I'm very bummed planet odd didn't make it. Wee, misery and moon I like a lot too.
Crqzy how Both TI finalists last year didnt make it- and the remnants of Wings are sort of scattered everywhere
What's crazy is how Planet odd got taken out at the qualifier by Complexity lol. They're usually complete shitters who barely qualify for stuff and place 14-16.
It is nuts how much can change in a year. A year ago people were talking about how wings was a new dynasty and no one would ever beat them cus they were so good, didn't even play the meta and young. And here we are they broke up. Complete 1 hit wonder, TI6 was one of the best performances ever but outside of that I don't think they ever sniffed a top 5 anything.
^and Planet Odd rekt Secret face in Dream League,gg Complexity gonna own our 10K SEA pride.
